One year later, a married couple George and Kathy Lutz move into the house along with Kathy's three children from a previous marriage, Billy, Michael, and Chelsea. Chelsea claims that she has befriended a girl named Jodie, a name belonging to one of the murdered DeFeo children. The demonic forces in the haunted Long Island house escapes to a remote home where it encounters a struggling family living together by uncertain means. On December 24, 1975, Father Mancuso called George Lutz and advised him to stay out of the second floor room where he had heard the mysterious voice, the former bedroom of Marc and John Matthew DeFeo, that Kathy planned to use as a sewing room, but the call was cut short by static. Following his visit to the house, Father Mancuso allegedly developed a high fever and blisters on his hands similar to stigmata. Talking about their experiences subsequently, they reported that it was as if they "were each living in a different house". The Amityville Horror is a 2005 American supernatural horror film directed by Andrew Douglas and starring Ryan Reynolds, Melissa George, and Philip Baker Hall.

When the babysitter, Lisa, arrives, they come to find out that she had previously been hired to babysit for the DeFeos. Soon, the clock begins to alter time and space and starts to possess members of the household. A dysfunctional family moves into a new house, which proves to be satanic, resulting in the demonic possession of their teenage son. Newlyweds and their three children move into a large house where a mass murder was committed. They start to experience strange, inexplicable manifestations which have strong effects on everyone living in or visiting the house. During the period in which the Lutz family was living at 112 Ocean Avenue, Stephen Kaplan, a self-styled vampirologist and ghost hunter, was called in to investigate the house. Kaplan and the Lutzes had a falling out after Kaplan said that he would expose any fraud that was found.

After production the movie facade remained on the house for a while and was eventually carefully removed. The famous quarter moon "evil eye" windows were preserved in sections of the walls which still have the movie bedroom wallpaper on the inside and siding with old looking movie paint on the outside. The windows were in good shape but were "aged" to match the house using peeling paint. In 2017 an estate sale was held at the movie mansion and the famous quarter moon "eye" windows, which had been in the attic since filming, were sold. George's behaviour towards Kathy and her children becomes abusive and the paranormal activity continues. Seemingly possessed, he grabs the axe and proceeds to murder the family dog after mistaking it for a demonic apparition.

Kathy becomes convinced that George's abusive behavior is owed to a spiritual possession. Subsequently, George is released from the spirit's control and the family permanently leaves the house. A title card states that the family left within 28 days of arriving and never returned.
Storyline
A city haunted by a bloody past has led to the emergence of some serious police brutality. As bodies pile up, two detectives seek to stop a demonic force that is terrorizing the neighborhood. A cursed, antique toy monkey from the original DeFeo home wreaks havoc and possesses a father after being gifted during the annual family reunion.

Lisa begins to scold Jodie for being the reason behind her getting fired. Then Billy dares Lisa to go inside the closet (the same closet where Jodie was murdered), and she gets locked inside. After a few seconds, she encounters Jodie herself and begs to be let out. She goes into shock and the paramedics arrive to take her away; on the way to the hospital, Lisa tells Kathy that she had seen Jodie.
